Of the 3,827 tracks in our 19 genre crates, 377 sit in two styles or more, and 40 in three or more. The one that crosses the most is "Airwave" by Rank 1, a 1999 trance record that big DJs from techno to UK garage use to open and close their sets: it sits in six crates. The biggest by numbers is "Show Me Love" by Robin S, in four crates and found in 820 recorded DJ sets.
How we counted
Every track on Digger Digger shows how many recorded DJ sets it was found in, from public tracklist databases such as set79: "found in 199 recorded DJ sets" means 199 different sets. All numbers are as of October 2026.
We matched the same recording across all our live style crates by its Deezer ID, or by artist and title when the ID was missing or different. A remix counts as its own track. Each track counts once per crate, and IDs (unreleased tracks) are left out. The Openers and Closers lists count too: the tracks a style's big DJs play most in the first or last three tracks of their sets. 27 crossings exist only through them. Open Format, which mixes every style by design, gets its own section below.

Which styles share the most tracks
Neighbors share the most. Big Room & Mainstage and Dance Pop & Festival Hits share 70 tracks, the anthems that work on a mainstage and on the radio. Hard Techno and Techno share 62. Then the numbers drop fast:
- The UK bass family: Bass House and UK Garage share 20 tracks, Bass House and Tech House 19, Tech House and UK Garage 15.
- The house underground: House & Disco and Minimal / Deep Tech share 17, Minimal / Deep Tech and Tech House 16, House & Disco and Tech House 14.
- The melodic side: Big Room and Progressive House share 17, Techno and Trance 14, Organic / Downtempo and Progressive House 12.
- The hard side: Hard Techno and Hardstyle share 11.
Tech House and Melodic House & Techno share only 7, but one is "Cola" by CamelPhat & Elderbrook, found in 448 recorded DJ sets. And 97 of the 171 possible pairs of genre crates share nothing. Nearly half the Big Room crate (108 tracks) also sits in another crate, against 6 tracks for Afro House and 2 for Amapiano.

Why some tracks cross
- Shared tempo and sound. Styles with similar speeds and drums trade records. Chris Lorenzo has 8 tracks in Bass House, Tech House and UK Garage at once, from "Rhymes" with Hannah Wants (2015, says Deezer) to "HOTS 4 U" (2026).
- Remixes and remakes. A new version carries a track into a new scene. "Désenchantée" was Mylène Farmer's 1991 song and Kate Ryan's 2002 cover; Oliver Heldens' 2023 EuroRave Mix sits in Bass House, Big Room and Dance Pop.
- Classics. Every scene grew up on the same records. "Bla Bla Bla", Gigi D'Agostino's 1999 single, sits in five crates. "Levels" by Avicii and Swedish House Mafia's "Don't You Worry Child" sit in Big Room, Dance Pop and Progressive House.
- The edges of a set. DJs step outside their style most at the start and the end. "Wait A Minute" by Biscits lands in Organic / Downtempo because Monolink and Tim Green closed sets with it.
Four crossovers up close
"Airwave" by Rank 1. Rank 1 is a Dutch trance group founded in 1999 by Piet Bervoets and Benno de Goeij, and "Airwave" reached No. 10 in the UK. Deezer dates its release 2000, but the original mix came out in 1999. In our data Richie Hawtin, Ricardo Villalobos and Sammy Virji open sets with it, and James Hype and Mau P close with it.
"Show Me Love" by Robin S. The first version came out in 1990 on Champion Records. The remix by Swedish producer StoneBridge followed in 1992 and reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 (Deezer dates its release 1993). Found in 820 recorded DJ sets, it is the most-played track in our House & Disco crate, and FISHER and Marco Carola open sets with it.
"London's On Fire" by Chris Lorenzo, Max Styler & Audio Bullys. Out on July 4, 2025 according to Deezer, on Black Book Records. Beatportal reported that Lorenzo and Styler had both debuted it at their Coachella sets. It was found in 199 recorded DJ sets.
"FTS" by Showtek. Deezer dates it 2007, on Dutch Master Works, from the hardstyle years of the brothers Wouter and Sjoerd Janssen from Eindhoven. In 2023 they returned to hardstyle with a set at Qlimax, their first hardstyle show in 15 years, according to Wikipedia. "FTS" was found in 125 recorded DJ sets.
Open Format: the crate that mixes everything
Open Format mixes styles by design, yet it shares only 16 tracks with the other crates: most of it is hip hop, R&B and pop that no genre crate covers. Latin & Reggaeton shares 4, from "Gasolina" to "Despacito", and Tech House 3, including "Eat Your Man" by Dom Dolla with Nelly Furtado. Counted with Open Format, 392 tracks cross, and "No Broke Boys" by Disco Lines & Tinashe (found in 82 recorded DJ sets) reaches three crates.
How DJs use crossovers
- As bridges. A track in two crates belongs to both sides, so it can carry your set from one style into the next: "Can't Decide" from deep tech into UK garage, "Hooked On The Bassline" by Gabry Ponte & Marie Vaunt from big room into techno. Our guide to switching styles in a DJ set shows how to plan the move.
- As safe picks for a mixed crowd. When the room likes different things, a track several scenes play is a safer bet than a deep cut only one scene knows.
- At the start and the end. The Openers and Closers lists at the end of most crates show what the big DJs reach for outside their style.
- To find more. Open two neighboring crates and look for the names in both. Our guide to finding what your favorite DJs play covers tracklist sites and set counts.
Every crate is on the All styles page: open two neighbors and see what they share.
