On July 2, 2026, AlphaTheta, the company formerly called Pioneer DJ Corporation, announced the CDJ-1500X, a smaller and cheaper version of its flagship CDJ-3000X media player. AlphaTheta's US store lists it at $1,699, against $2,999 for the CDJ-3000X. It is also the first player to work with CoBeat, a new AlphaTheta service that puts crowd song requests on the player's screen.
What the CDJ-1500X keeps and what it drops
CDJs are the media players you find in most club booths, and the CDJ-1500X keeps the big features of the current flagship: the same 10.1-inch touchscreen, built-in Wi-Fi and NFC login (you tap your phone on the player to sign in). Over Wi-Fi it plays your rekordbox cloud library and streams from Apple Music, Beatport Streaming and TIDAL. It weighs 3.6 kg (7.9 lb), against 6.0 kg (13.2 lb) for the CDJ-3000X, and AlphaTheta pitches it at bars, small clubs and home setups.
To reach that price, some things go. The jog wheel is mid-size, the only audio output is an analog RCA pair (the CDJ-3000X adds a digital output), and power comes from an external adapter. Crossfader's review notes there is no Key Sync or Key Shift, and DJ TechTools points out that, like the CDJ-3000X, it cannot split tracks into stems (separate vocals, drums and music). Both outlets give a European price of €1,699. DJ TechTools' Dan White called it AlphaTheta's "first budget-minded, heavily featured media player since the XDJ-1000MK2", a player that came out in September 2016.
CoBeat puts song requests on the screen
CoBeat went live on July 9, 2026. Before a set, you choose up to 200 tracks in rekordbox for Mac or Windows and publish them as a Request Catalog. Your crowd scans a QR code or opens a link in a phone browser (CoBeat is a web app, and guests need no account), then sends messages, requests tracks from your list and reacts with emojis that pop up on your phone. Requests and messages show on the CDJ-1500X's screen, and you can switch them on and off.
As of July 2026, the CDJ-1500X is the only compatible player, and DJs without one can open requests on the CoBeat web page instead. You need an AlphaTheta account and rekordbox 7.2.16 or later, and the player must be online and signed in to CloudDirectPlay, rekordbox's cloud playback. CoBeat's site lists no price for the service, and messages cannot be read back after the set. DJ TechTools called it "one more thing competing for a DJ's attention" and noted that it relies on the venue's Wi-Fi.
DJM-V5 and XDJ-AN go wireless
AlphaTheta started the year with the DJM-V5, announced on January 20, 2026 and shown at the NAMM show in Anaheim, California, that month. It is a three-channel mixer with a footprint about 30% smaller than the six-channel DJM-V10, a 4-band EQ and six send effects, listed at $2,199. AlphaTheta says it is the first mixer with a built-in SonicLink transmitter.
SonicLink is AlphaTheta's own wireless system for DJ headphones. The company quotes latency as low as 9 ms and a range of about 15 m (49 ft) in open space. The HDJ-F10 headphones pair with the DJM-V5 at the press of a button, and the new HDJ-F9 ($349, announced on October 15, 2026) pairs by touching the mixer.
The XDJ-AN followed on July 9, 2026. It is a two-channel all-in-one system (players and mixer in one unit) with a touchscreen, playback from USB and streaming without a laptop, and its own SonicLink transmitter. It also works as a controller for rekordbox, Serato DJ and djay, and costs $1,199. AlphaTheta aims it at home DJs and controller users who want a club-style layout. The XDJ-AN and the CDJ-1500X both made their Atlantic City debut at the DJX trade show, held from August 10 to 13, 2026, Magnetic reported.
Other brands in 2026
Rane launched the System One on January 20, 2026: a standalone system (it plays without a laptop) with motorized 7.2-inch platters and Engine DJ built in, at $2,499 or €2,499, according to MusicTech. Denon DJ released the PRIME 4 G2 on September 1, 2026, with four channels, 8-inch jog wheels, 16 pressure-sensitive pads and stems rendered on the unit, for $2,599 or €2,699.99, Beatportal reported. Hercules first showed the DJControl T10 at NAMM in January 2026, a controller with 10-inch motorized platters that comes with Serato DJ Pro, and now lists it at $1,399.99.
The biggest business story came on May 8, 2026, when inMusic, whose brands include Denon DJ, Numark and Rane, signed a deal to buy Native Instruments, the maker of Traktor. "The tools you rely on today will keep working," inMusic CEO Jack O'Donnell said. inMusic now lists Native Instruments among its brands.

What it means for DJs
A cheaper CDJ narrows the gap between home practice and the club. At US list prices, two CDJ-1500X cost $3,398, against $5,998 for two CDJ-3000X, and a pair with a DJM-V5 comes to $5,597. The screen and browsing work like the flagship's, so your habits carry over, but the smaller jog wheel will feel different from full-size club decks. Crossfader called it "a great modular option for mobile DJs, smaller bars, and home users working on a budget", while warning that you still need two players and a mixer for a proper setup.

Before you buy, check these points:
- Your USB sticks. The CDJ-1500X reads OneLibrary, a library format shared by several DJ apps, and not the older Device Library. Old sticks must be converted in the latest rekordbox. rekordbox, djay Pro and VirtualDJ (since September 15, 2026) export OneLibrary, and Traktor support is listed as coming.
- Streaming costs. Cloud and streaming playback on the player need a compatible rekordbox plan on top of your Apple Music, Beatport Streaming or TIDAL subscription, plus Wi-Fi or a network cable. Our rekordbox plan news covers the latest changes.
- Your DJ app. rekordbox works with the CDJ-1500X without a license (the player unlocks it), while Serato DJ Pro and djay Pro need their subscriptions. Our DJ software comparison can help you choose.
- The features you rely on. If you need Key Sync, a digital output or full-size jog wheels, the CDJ-3000X still has them. If you want stems on a standalone unit, Denon DJ's PRIME 4 G2 renders them on board.
Whatever gear you end up with, how you bring your music to the booth matters as much as the player. Our guide to laptop or USB stick walks you through both options.
