When a tracklist says "ID - ID", the DJ played something that is not out yet: a promo, a friend's demo or their own new track. Some IDs stay secret for months and become anthems before anyone can buy them.
Why DJs play IDs
To test a new track on a real crowd, to play a set nobody else can copy, and because labels send big DJs music early to build hype before the release.
How fans name them
On tracklist sites like 1001Tracklists the community fills in IDs as soon as someone recognises them. Comments under set videos and live streams help too, and once the track is out, apps like Shazam catch up.
How to get it first
Follow the artist and their label on Beatport, Bandcamp and socials, and turn on release alerts. Our Famous IDs list collects the big ones with a link to follow each artist, so you hear about the release first.
