The hidden gems of the big DJs are records like "Mindrecorder" by DJ Misjah, found in 195 recorded DJ sets, or "All Locations" by Dosem, found in 133, that few listeners stream. We picked one per style from our own data: a track played in many recorded DJ sets but streamed little. Here are all 20, three of their stories, and how to use a gem in your own set.

How we picked them

For each style, we took the 30 tracks found in the most recorded DJ sets, counting each track once and leaving out IDs (unreleased tracks). We dropped the top five, the anthems everyone already knows. From the other 25, we kept the one that is the least streamed on Deezer. When the copy on Deezer was a different version, or sat on a compilation instead of the track's own release, we skipped it and took the next one.

"Found in N sets" means the track turns up in N different recorded DJ sets in the public tracklists of set79, as of October 2026. In the pop-leaning styles (Big Room, Dance Pop, Open Format), every track in the top 30 is a hit, so "hidden" is relative there: the gem is the deep cut of the list, not a secret.

"Mindrecorder": a 1997 record that never left

"Mindrecorder" is the first track of "Wicked Snails", an album DJ Misjah released on vinyl in 1997 on the Dutch label X-Trax. It runs under four minutes. It is the eighth most played track in our Hard Techno crate, yet the least streamed of the 25 we checked there.

Its reach is wide. Tracklists on set79 show Tiësto playing it at Amnesia in Ibiza in July 2003, and again at We Belong Here in Miami on March 1, 2026. Techno DJs play it too: Richie Hawtin at Womb in Tokyo in April 2023, Lilly Palmer at fabric in London in January 2024 and Ben Klock at Loveland Festival in 2024. Interplanetary Criminal, best known for UK garage, played it on Rinse FM in September 2025.

"All Locations": the progressive track that travels

Dosem released "All Locations" on Anjunadeep on January 25, 2019, as the title track of a three-track EP, with a 6:38 original and a 4:25 edit. Found in 133 recorded DJ sets, it is one of the biggest numbers in the table, and still the least streamed of the 25 we checked in Progressive House.

It crosses styles easily. Tracklists on set79 show Eric Prydz playing it at EXIT Festival in 2025, Mau P, a tech house name, at Awakenings Festival the same year, and Lane 8 in his Spring 2026 Mixtape.

"I'm Not Defeated": a Pride mix that stayed

"I'm Not Defeated" is a song by Fiorious, produced by Bawrut. In 2018 the label Glitterbox released a Catz 'n Dogz "Pride Mix" of it, in a short version and an extended one of 6:31. The extended mix is the one DJs reach for: it is found in 90 recorded DJ sets in our House & Disco crate.

It works far beyond disco nights. Tracklists on set79 show it in Solomun and Tale Of Us's back-to-back set at EXIT in 2019, in Gorgon City and CamelPhat's set at Coachella the same year, in Monolink's Cercle set in Paris, and in CamelPhat's set at Pacha Ibiza on June 5, 2025.

Why hidden gems exist

  • Club versions. Extended mixes and long remixes are made for mixing, with long intros and outros. Radio and playlists prefer three minutes. Rampa's remix of Âme's "No War" runs 7:19.
  • Remixes of songs people already stream. Listeners stream the original, DJs play the remix. On Deezer, Nina Kraviz's original "Tarde" and Jan Blomqvist and Rodriguez Jr.'s original "Destination Lost" are both streamed more than the remixes the DJs play.
  • Records made for DJs first. Older dance music came out on vinyl for DJs, often as promos before the real release. "Night" by Benga & Coki went out as a promo 12-inch in 2007, a year before its release on Tempa.
  • Too new to be big. Some gems just came out. RØZ's "pongo remix" was released on July 2, 2026, and is already found in 42 recorded DJ sets.

How to use a gem in your set

A gem makes your set yours. Anyone can play the top five of a style. A track the big DJs trust that the crowd has not heard a hundred times shows you dug.

  • Warm up with them. Opening for a headliner, gems give you the right sound without taking their anthems. More in what to play when you open for a big DJ.
  • Pair a gem with a hit. Know the anthem of your style (see the number one track in every DJ style) and play a gem near it: the hit brings people in, the gem keeps them curious.
  • Get the right version. A gem often lives in one exact mix, like the extended Pride mix of "I'm Not Defeated". Check the version name before you buy or download.
  • Keep digging. The table is only a start. How to find what DJs play shows how to follow tracklists, labels and remixers to the next ones.

Every style crate shows how many recorded DJ sets each track was found in, so you can run the same check yourself: scroll past the top of a list and listen to the 30-second previews. Start from all styles.
